Mt Lofty to Victor Harbour along the Heysen Trail

Garry the legend has finished his walk. What a triumph! I am so proud of him. We just want to say a huge thank you for all of your prayers and support and encouraging phone calls along the way over this weekend. We could not have done it without your help.

All about the journey.......

Garry started the walk from Mt Lofty on Friday morning at 6.30am with 4 other walkers. Graham joined him till Bridgewater, Burnie to Mylor, Brian for 50km to the Kuitpo Forrest. Damian and Garry did a huge first day of 65km finishing at 8.30 at night. They stayed in a hut in the Kuitpo Forrest for the first night.

The next morning they set out very sore and out popped the blisters. Saturday was one of the hardest pain wise, but he was really encouraged by Debbie and Jane joining him for a few hours and Jon for most of the day. Ros was a big help bringing out lunch. The guys did 52km which was a huge effort in the pain they were in and the fact that it was a very hot day.

Garry set out on Sunday by himself which I was really worried about, but had a phone call and Murray joined him for the rest of the day. What a huge answer to prayer and encouragement he was. It was the toughest part of the trail that day walking up and down steep hills all day. Ros and Darren joined them later in the afternoon until they finished that night.

Monday Garry set out with only a smaller amount to walk – he was nearly there! Graham joined him and I walked the last few km with him, crossing the finish line at the Bluff at Victor Harbor. Relief!
